Kew, Victoria - Kitchen Concept
A stunning High Victorian home in leafy inner Melbourne suburb of Kew. 3.6met ceiling heights throughout, a ball room, grand entrance foyers, custom wall papers - the works. The missing item for this avid cook was a kitchen that was both in keeping with the beautiful home and super functional. With a high attention to detail this client wanted a place for everything, plenty of storage, dedicated cooking zones and room to move!
Such a fabulous challenge to take on. Given the 3.9met ceiling cabinetry needed to be proportionate so as to not become diminutive, so careful planning around the utilisation of the high cupboard spaces was a given. A dedicated appliance workstation was created with seperate extractor fans all hidden behind cabinetry. This ensured that multiple steam producing appliances often used simultaneously were adequately ventilated. Marble was selected for the benchtops throughout with 2 pak cabinetry. Power points discretely tucked away behind false draw fronts on the island provided a streamlined finish.
Lighting in the higher glass fronted display cabinets was also carefully considered so as to pinpoint the collection of antique crockery yet not dominate the space.
The overall finished design was a testament to designer/client collaboration.
